We at Shoobox are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Shoobox.
We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the "Effective Date" of this Privacy Policy. You are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed of updates. You will be deemed to have been made aware of, will be subject to, and will be deemed to have accepted the changes in any revised Privacy Policy by your continued use of the Application after the date such revised Privacy Policy is posted.
Collection of Information
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect includes:
- Personal Data: We may collect personally identifiable information, such as your name, email address, and other similar information when you register for an account or use the Application.
- Usage Data: We may collect information about your usage of the Application, including the date and time of your visits, the pages you accessed, and other similar information.
- Scan Photographs: When you scan a physical object, we may collect the photograph you capture as part of that scan, as described in the "Scan Photographs" section below.
Use of Information
We may use the information we collect for various purposes, including to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Application;
- Notify you about changes to the Application;
- Respond to your inquiries and provide you with customer support;
- Monitor the usage of the Application;
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues.
Disclosure of Information
We may disclose your information to third parties for a variety of purposes, including to:
- Comply with legal obligations;
- Protect and defend our rights or property;
- Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Application;
- Protect the personal safety of users of the Application or the public.
Public Display of Your Content
Content you create in the Application is public. Specifically, the rooms you build, the items you place in them, the display name on your account, and counts derived from your activity are visible to other users inside the Application, and are also published to web pages on shoobox.app that anyone can view without an account and without signing in.
Because these pages are public, they can be shared as links. When someone shares a link to your room, messaging apps, social networks, and chat services generate a preview image of that room and store a copy of it on their own systems. The Company does not control those third-party caches and cannot guarantee how long a preview remains visible after the underlying content changes or is removed.
Some content is excluded from public web pages: items flagged as adult, as depicting a person, or as restricted are not displayed, and rooms belonging to deleted accounts are not served. Deleting an item or a room removes it from the public page, though third-party previews may persist for a period afterward as described above.
To request that a room be removed from the public web, or to report content you believe infringes your rights, contact [email protected], or [email protected] for copyright matters.
Scan Photographs
When you scan a physical object, the photograph you capture is uploaded to our servers and stored privately. We use it to provide the before-and-after feature for your own items and to investigate failed or incorrect scan generations. Unlike the room content described above, scan photographs are never published by us and never shown to other users. We do not sell scan photographs, and we do not share them with third parties except for the service providers that process them on our behalf to operate the scanning feature, such as our cloud storage provider and the artificial intelligence service that generates your item from your photograph.
If you choose to share a before-and-after image of one of your items, the photograph is included in what you share. Scan photographs may incidentally capture parts of your surroundings.
You can delete the original photograph for any item at any time from the item itself in the Application. Scan photographs are also deleted when you delete your account. If you have questions about scan photographs, contact us at [email protected].
Children's Privacy
The Application is not directed to children under 13, and the Company does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users must be at least 13 years old to create an account, as described in our End User License Agreement.
Parents and guardians should be aware that the Application publishes user-created rooms to publicly accessible web pages, as described above. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, or that an account belongs to a child under 13, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete the account and the associated information.
Security of Information
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
